The Passion Of The Christ has broken into the top 40 on the Southern Gospel News chart. 40% of the chart is from the fans vote and 60% is from radio airplay. The reason for contacting you is first of all to share the news and second, ask you to go on the following link and vote for the song. Some DJ's check the chart and set their airplay accordingly. If you have the time, please go to their site and vote. I really appreciate it and I'll keep you informed as to the success of your votes.

I have had such great response from the Gospel Greats segment. So many people heard it and many knew me as a kid. That's scary!! Anyway, so many people contact me after hearing the song that it really has me excited about how God is going to use this song. If you have a christian radio station close to you, make sure and call and request the song. I will keep you updated on how things are going. Also, my sister, Abby, had a little girl last week. She named her Nila after my mother. Pray for her and the baby and also keep her in your prayers for her spiritual warfare. Until next time...

Dan Adkins, the writer of "7 Little Angels", passes away. Dan was a good friend of mine and a tremendous writer. He was also the co-writer of my new radio single called, "The Passion of the Christ". He wrote it with STeve Cheney of MWC. Dan was preaching in the state of Washington when he started feeling ill. They rushed him to the hospital and he passed away from a massive heart attack. He was noted for producing several recordings for JD Sumner and the Stamps as well as many other artists. He is finally worshiping God in persona nd having a great time. Please remember his wife, Carla, and the rest of his friends and family in prayer. Dan was in his early fifties. I will be singing "7 Little Angels" at his funeral next wednesday so please pray for me also.

I just finished up the bonus songs for the live CD. Not only will there be a live concert, but there will be 3 extra songs as well. I had the privilege to record on of the songs with Lauren Cheney, Steve Cheney's daughter. Steve is the baritone for Mencer, White, and Cheney. Man can this girl sing! Just wait till you hear this song that we sing together. The song is called, "We Dream", and it sort of reminds you of a Disney style song. I just know that you're gonna love it. Make sure to order a CD, or DVD right away. Also, MWC is going into the studio next week to start work on our new CD. It should be out in 2 months. Stay tuned for more.

The big one was of course "The Passion of the Christ", and I am looking for this song to really be a good song to reach people for Christ. The CD shoudl be available sometime in August and the DVD should be out in September. Stay tuned for more updates. Also, Mencer, White, and Cheney will be in the studio the end of July ot work on our new one called "Giving God Praise". This looks to be a great one as well. I can't wait!!

The story behind the song Seven Little Angels Words and Music by Dan Adkins Song Factory Nashville/BMI Administered by Bill Gaither Copyright Management Bobby was the sweetest little boy in town But Bobby got sick one day The doctor said, "It's bad, It'll get him down Soon he'll be going away" Bobby told us all, "Don't worry 'bout me I know I'm gonna be OK God's gonna send His angels for me And every night they come to play" CHORUS He said, "One little angel, two and three Four little angels all around me Five little angels call my name Six little, seven little angels came" Bobby got worse and the doctor said, "It's only gonna be a little while "He lost his color and he lost his strength But Bobby never lost his smile His days on earth were nearly done And he could barely lift his head But he counted them out, one by one Angels all around his bed CHORUS He said, "One little angel, two and three Four little angels all around me Five little angels call my name Six little, seven little angels came" And when Bobby died a part of me died too It was the part of me that was afraid to die 'Cause Bobby was prepared for the day the angels came And now by his example...So am I! CHORUS And I'll say, "One little angel, two and three Four little angels all around me Five little angels call my name Six little, seven little angels came" (©Song Factory Nashville/BMI 2004) The story behind the song Seven Little Angels Dan Adkins I was listening to a late night radio talk show about three little children who were very sick. It broke my heart and I could hardly continue on. I thought of my little nephew, Mikey, who died at the age of eight. They couldnít do anything for him. He just wasted away, a day at a time and a pound at a time. It was a traumatic event in my life. We had kept him for three months when he was five. He was so alive, so sweet, and the joy of everyone that knew him. When Cancer struck him (a brain tumor) we were all shocked. We thought it was a grownup disease. We also thought it was for other people and it would not hit our family. We would try to encourage him that heaven was beautiful and the angels would carry him home and the pain would all go away when they came. He began talking about them all the time. He loved the stories and memorized them all. We kept hoping and praying that he would be healed and get well and walk out of that hospital. But he didnít. I wondered, ìWhat about our prayers- doesnít God hear- doesnít He care.î I talked to the preacher that did the funeral and told him the story I just told you. He said, ìDan, the angels you told him about- God sent them just like you told Mikey- they came to visit that night and took him home.î As I day-dreamed about him and the grief we all went thru- losing such an innocent kind-hearted boy...so young...the radio show started taking over my thoughts again. The three stories had two happy endings- but one of the children didnít go home to his house- he went home to Godís house. Then I wept, missing little Mikey and thought, "What about the ones who don't get well. How can I be a comfort to them?" So, I wrote a song about angels coming to visit , bless, and carry home a little boy- and the effect it had on the storyteller...I guess Iím the storyteller. SING-cerely, Dan Adkins
